Water Efficiency – Why We Should All Care

water saving

Although in the U.S. you can turn on the faucet and expect great gushes of water to flow out, this isn’t the case everywhere. There are places in the world where people have to wait for days or even months for water to flow through their home pipes. Some people have no indoor plumbing and must walk for miles to get clean water.

While you may feel this doesn’t affect you too badly here in the U.S. where water seems to be plentiful, you may have to worry about it over the next few years.  Statistics show that droughts in the West and midwest states is increasing. This is caused by the climatic changes we have experienced in the last few years.

“Well, I live in Florida, so I don’t have to worry about water, right?” This may be a question you ask yourself. But over the next 10 to 15 years we may all have to seriously take into consideration water conservation. So why worry about it then? Why not worry about it now? We should all worry about saving water and there are several ways we can all do our part.

It’s All About Saving

We’ve seen that saving even the least amount of water can help. After all, if someone in Africa can walk a mile for a bucket of clean water, we can save a bucket of the clear stuff while we wait for the water to heat in the shower.  Once you start saving water and using water saving products, you’ll see how much water and energy you once wasted.

We all need to do our part, and that means calling in a professional plumber to help install water efficient plumbing fixtures, water heaters and other products.  Yes, you may have to pay a higher initial price, but over the long run you will save money and save the planet. In some cases, we can even save water using eco-friendly tasks such as harvesting rain water.

We had been drinking water from our rural well for about two years when we decided to have it tested. It turned out that our water had 300 times the iron recommended for human use. That sent us to our roof and the collection …

Bottom Line

There are so many ways to conserve water and we should all participate in saving this vital liquid. It is possible. No matter where you live, whether in the country or in the city, you can do your part in saving water, and keeping it plentiful for everyone.
